Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Today is Quinquagesima Sunday. The Last Sunday before the first Sunday of Lent.
We are getting closer to the Lenten Season that can be a very hungry time but also a creative time spent in prayer, reflection and reconciliation.
We have a couple of days left until Ash Wednesday where we receive the Ashes and begin lent.
Today Lenten Fasting and spending Lenten Time is not being practiced anymore. We do not sustain from meat on Wednesday and Friday anymore neither do we go to confession or even to Church but forget about Lent until we eat bunnies and eggs at Easter.
As a Priest i see that many people do not know where to begin especially at lent. There are a combination of things. Fasting, Reflecting, Praying, Doing Good Deeds and Reconciliation.
This time is not "About Me" or "I Want".
Lent is a time where we go into ourselves and reflect on our behavior, faith and what we do for others. Lent is a time that we have to grow in faith as faith is our nourishment to life. Our Lord spent 40 Days and nights in the desert without anything that he needed to survive including food but his nourishment was faith alone in God His Father. Satan tried to bring him of of Faith and his true vocation but Jesus cast Satan out.
During this time we need to nourish our own faith with giving up ourselves for God and to ask the Holy Spirit to guide and preserve us.
The Trinitarian Anglican Church will be spending time in reflection, fasting and prayer and will offer its members weekly blogs and reflections.
If we seek God he will listen we just need to learn how to listen to him an ask him for guidance.
Yours In Christ
The Clergy of the Trinitarian Church
